[ARCHIVED] Prescription Drug Take Back Event

The Broomfield Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for its National Prescription Drug Take Back event.

We will be collecting expired or unused medications free of charge. Please remove all pills from original container and place in a ziplock bag before arrival.

10 am - 2 pm

What is ACCEPTED:

  • Prescription medication
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Medicated patches (except Fentanyl and Duragesic®  patches)
  • Medication samples
  • Medicated ointments
  • Vitamins
  • Pet medications
  • Unused drug injection cartridges (unused EpiPens® and insulin pens with unused needle still protected inside)
     

What is NOT ACCEPTED:

  • Marijuana
  • Illicit drugs (DEA schedule I drugs such as heroin, LSD, etc)
  • Chemotherapy drugs
  • Liquid medications 
  • Medical tools and supplies
  • Bloody or infectious waste
  • Personal care products
  • Thermometers
  • Empty containers
  • Needles, syringes, and other sharps can be disposed of at the Boulder County Hazardous Materials Management Facility (Instructions for packaging are included on the website).

If you can't make it, remember you can drop off your unused prescription and over-the-counter medications year-round in our drop box located in the lobby of the Broomfield Police Department. The lobby is open Monday-Friday from 8 am - 5 pm. No appointment is necessary.
