Level 1 Fire Restrictions in Effect

North Metro Fire Rescue District, in partnership with the Broomfield Police Department, are issuing Level 1 Fire Restrictions for Broomfield County until further notice.

    Latest Update:

    March 3, 2026 5:37 PM

Due to increased humidity and cooler temperatures, the North Metro Fire Rescue District in partnership with the Broomfield Police Department, are recommending the City and County of Broomfield reduce fire restrictions from Level 2 down to Level 1.

This recommendation is made in consultation with Fire Prevention based on an assessment of current and recent meteorological conditions and fuel moisture levels. Specifically, the increased moisture in grasses, shrubs, and trees reduces the likelihood of ignition and fire intensity. Recent snow along with significantly lower temperatures heavily influenced the decision.

The following activities are prohibited on public and private property during a Level 1 Fire Restriction

    • Bonfires (even if a permit was issued)
    • Recreational fires that are not contained within a portable fireplace, chiminea, fire pit or grill
    • All fireworks - including sparklers, highway flares and toy caps
    • Model rockets or sky lanterns (note: sky lanterns are NEVER ALLOWED regardless of fire risk)
    • Burning trash (this is never allowed regardless of fire risk)

Visit the North Metro Fire Rescue District’s Level 1 Fire Restriction page for more information.

With dry conditions and low humidity increasing the risk of fire, please practice extra precautions and check out the following tips to prepare for an emergency.

    • Develop, discuss and practice your family emergency action plan (don’t forget to include your pets).
    • Pre-pack “go-kits” for your home and car to include important papers, prescriptions, phone numbers, pictures, etc.
    • Sign up for emergency notifications through LookoutAlert and verify your registration is correct.
    • Pre-fill out your personal information and medical details to help first responders via Smart911.
    • Follow official information sources now to receive the most up-to-date and accurate information. In Broomfield these include:
