Tuesday–Saturday: Waste Oil Recycling

Broomfield residents can participate in the Waste Oil Recycling program operated by the Public Works Fleet Services Division. This year-round program is located at the Norman Smith Service Center at 3001 W. 124th Ave. (just east of Lowell Boulevard).

  • Dates: Tuesday–Friday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., and the 1st Saturday of the month, 8 a.m.–noon
  • Location: Norman Smith Service Center, 3001 W. 124th Ave. (just east of Lowell Blvd.)

Monday–Friday: Medication Disposal

Did you know medication needs to be disposed of responsibly? Instead of throwing old prescription or over-the-counter medication into the trash or flushing it down the toilet, let the City and County of Broomfield dispose of medication responsibly year-round!

  • Dates: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Location: Broomfield Police Department, 7 Descombes Drive
    • The drop-box is located just inside the doors

Upcoming Programs and events

Sustainability Film Series

The City and County of Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville, and Superior are hosting a virtual and free Sustainability Film Series. Four films will be screened over the course of four months, April – July, covering topics such as plastic pollution, climate change, water conservation, and youth activism. Each screening will be followed by a post-film discussion moderated by each sponsoring city. 

Space is limited for each film. Register to secure your attendance. 

April 20, 2023: "Youth v Gov" - Register
May 18, 2023: "Ice on Fire" - Register
June 15, 2023: "Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story" - Register
July 20, 2023: "Going Circular" - Register
  • Date:  3rd Thursday of the months of April, May, June, and July from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. (Broomfield’s film will be shown on June 15th.)
  • Location: Virtual via Zoom. Guests will be required to RSVP in order to get access to the film screening. 

October 7:  Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

BY APPOINTMENT ONLY: Environmental Services provides this program for Broomfield residents only to dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic waste, free of charge. 

  • Date: Saturday,October 7, 2023, by appointment. (Appointment scheduling will begin on Monday, September 11, 2023.)
  • Location: Broomfield Municipal Shops, 3951 W 144th Ave.

September 30: Paper Shredding Event

Professional shredding services to safely and securely shred confidential tax, medical and bank forms. There is a limit of three bankers or copy paper-sized boxes, weighing no more than 35 pounds each, per resident or up to three 32-gallon trash bags of already shredded paper. No registration is required.

  • Date: Saturday, September 30, 2023, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Location: Norman Smith Service Center located at 3001 W 124th Ave.
