It’s time to talk about how we’re feeling. The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting restrictions have impacted us all. Now more than ever we need to take care of ourselves, including our mental health, and look out for each other. Visit Broomfield.org/LetsTalk for information, tips, and resources to stay healthy and get support.
Want to start the conversation? Try these tips:
“I’ve noticed that…” Open the conversation by explaining changes you have noticed. For example, “I’ve noticed that you’ve been in your room more than usual. How are you feeling?”
“Do you want to take a walk?” Engaging someone you are concerned about in an activity like walking together can be a great way to start a conversation. Doing an activity while you talk can take some of the nerves and discomfort out of the conversation.
Try to stick with open-ended questions. An open ended question is one that can't be answered with a “yes” or “no”. For example: "How are you feeling about your test results?"
