Highlights for those 70+ (Group 1B):
HALF of Broomfield’s 70+ residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, this is great news! If you have not yet received a vaccine, please know that it will take time to vaccinate all of the approximately 7,000 70+ seniors in Broomfield. You have not missed your opportunity!
The City and County of Broomfield is working to meet Governor Polis’s goal of vaccinating 70% of 70+ year olds by February 28, so vaccination is happening as quickly as the federal supply is available. As previously shared, Broomfield Public Health is currently in a gap-filling role for vaccinations, and working with local partners to identify seniors who can’t get vaccinated by the current pathways (i.e. those who are uninsured, those who are homebound, etc.). Last week, residents ages 70+ were offered COVID-19 vaccines in the following communities:
- The Avenues at Crofton Park
- Town Center Senior Apartments
- Front Range Mobile Home Community
- Broomfield Greens - including residents at Maryel Manor
- Corbin Manor

Many of our local health systems have set-up a phone option for you to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine in addition to the online sign-up option. Both are available even if you are not a current member of that health system.

Jan 22 Update:
𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝟳𝟬+ (𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝟭𝗕):
- Coloradans in the 70+ age group can sign up to be placed on a list for the vaccine from local hospital systems, even if you are not a current member. In Broomfield specifically, UCHealth is using My Health Connection, their online patient portal, to communicate with patients. If you do not have an active My Health Connection account or are new to UCHealth, sign up to be placed on a list to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
- It may be frustrating to hear about friends or neighbors who have appointments or have already received their vaccine if you haven’t been contacted yet. You have not missed your chance - Governor Polis has set a goal of vaccinating 70% of 70+ year olds by February 28, so vaccination will continue for many more weeks.
- If there is a vaccination clinic happening in your residential community for your Phase/subgroup, you will be alerted through your residential managers. These clinics are operating on an appointment-only basis in order to ensure that everyone is able to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines.

𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝘄𝗼 & 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭𝗕 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲:
- More than 32% of Broomfield residents 70+ have received at least one dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine in the past two weeks!
- Vaccinating everyone will take time and depends on how quickly the federal supply of the vaccine is distributed.
- You are able to sign up with health providers to be on their list of people interested in getting vaccinated. Please remember that health providers will reach out as your phase becomes eligible. While you may sign up now, you may not be contacted for several months.

Jan 21 Update:
Extra doses of both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, which had previously been held as second doses, will now be used as first doses for Coloradans 70+. Health providers and pharmacies will be contacting more seniors to receive a COVID-19 vaccine now through Monday, Jan. 25. While vaccination will happen as fast as possible, vaccinating everyone will take time. Your opportunity is coming!
The state will backfill additional second doses from a future supply. The state will use “first doses” as “second doses” as needed to maintain the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation for the booster shot.
The rate at which Coloradans 70+ will be vaccinated depends on the federal supply of the vaccine. As Broomfield receives more supply, you will be informed along the way. Please check out the new Broomfield.org/VaccineDashboard to track Broomfield’s progress in this critical step to stop the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jan 15 Update:
Gov. Polis has set a goal of vaccinating 70% of Coloradans 70+ by the end of February. That means 5,000 Broomfield residents 70+ will have the opportunity to be vaccinated by the end of next month! Please remember, while vaccination will happen as fast as possible, vaccinating everyone will take time. Your opportunity is coming!
Vaccines will primarily go to hospitals in these initial phases of distribution. According to the governor’s office, 50% of the state’s allocation will go to hospitals, 20% to federally qualified health centers, 20% local public health agencies and community partners, and the remaining 10% to retail pharmacies.
Many residents have already been contacted by their doctor’s office, hospital, or pharmacy. If you do not have a doctor or pharmacy, or you haven’t been contacted by them yet, expect additional information on how to access the vaccine in the coming weeks via these weekly emails or the following sources:

- The state’s Where can I get Vaccinated page for information on signing up with health providers in the area
Additionally, Broomfield Public Health is working with community partners and senior living facilities on plans for on-site vaccination clinics for older adults who may not be able to get to a hospital or clinic.

Please note that the Pfizer and the Moderna vaccines are two dose vaccines, so you will need to receive both doses to be fully protected from COVID-19. After your first dose, the same provider or health system will give you instructions on where and when to receive your second dose. In the meantime, continue to practice the 4Ws to protect yourself and those around you. Wear your mask! Wash your hands! Watch your distance! Wait on social gatherings!
