Food Safety Class
Broomfield's health inspectors now offer an updated, interactive food safety class! The class is designed to look at foods and equipment food handlers are familiar with while providing information to prevent foodborne illness in retail food establishments. With pictures, videos, and activities that take place in the kitchen, staff should feel confident for their next inspection. Classes cost $100 and are offered in English, Spanish and Mandarin. To schedule a class at your establishment, please call 720-887-2220 or email publichealth@broomfield.org.
Important Updates
📝 Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) in Effect March 1st, 2025: As of March 1st, 2025, all facilities are required to have a certified food protection manager on site at all times while the facility is operating per the Colorado Retail Food Establishment Rules and Regulations. During an inspection, if the person in charge does not have a valid certified food protection manager certificate, this will result in being marked out of compliance as a violation.
Please note: The CFPM certificate must be completed through an accredited program. The exam will assess your knowledge on specific topics related to food safety; most programs offer a course to help prepare you for the exam. Additional information is available in English, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese. Some organizations offer classes in different languages as well as in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
📞 Retail Food Establishment Contact Information: As we begin the new year, it’s a great time to confirm the contact information for your facility. Mail (such as retail food establishment license renewals) from the health department will continue to be sent to the current contact and address we have on file. If there have been any changes in management or there is a new preferred mailing address, please update your information through the online form.
