Project Summary
The Markel and Wottge Open Space Concept Plan project supports Broomfield’s goal of integrating accessible open spaces and enhancing community connectivity to local and regional trails. The project includes the design and future construction of open space improvements for the Markel and Wottge properties. Design work is currently underway, with anticipated design completion in summer 2026. Construction is planned for late Fall 2026 through Spring of 2027.
The project began with a thorough evaluation of the natural resources on both properties, including habitat value, wetland vegetation, and water resources, assessing both recreational and ecological opportunities. An extensive public engagement process shaped the concept site plans, ensuring they reflect community priorities and stakeholder input.
