Project Information
A new trail connection will be constructed along Airport Creek, linking the Wadsworth Station residential area west of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad tracks to the existing trail network at the Broomfield Industrial Park Sports Complex east of the tracks.
The trail will be 12 feet wide and 850 feet long. The estimated construction cost is $5.3 million. A federal grant of $4,050,000 has been approved through the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for design and construction costs.
In 2022, several trail alignments and BNSF crossing alternatives were evaluated and presented to the Broomfield Open Space and Trails Committee. The preferred alternative provides a cost-effective, low-maintenance solution that meets trail width and clearance requirements, minimizes impacts to Airport Creek and the floodplain. More information will follow as the design progresses.
