Ridgeview Hillside Restoration Project
Construction Update 2.1.2026
The City and County of Broomfield has selected Korby Landscape, LLC to complete work for the Ridgeview Hillside Restoration Project.
Work is expected to begin in early March, 2026, and extend through late May 2026.
Overview
The project will repair the eroded hillside area west of Iris Street and W. 18th Avenue. The work will restore the disturbed and eroding slope, install erosion control measures, formalize a portion of an existing trail segment, add an overlook with a bench, and seed with native plants. Staging of materials and equipment for this project will occur on portions of Iris Street in order to prevent further damage to the native prairie grasses on Broomfield Open Space.
Project Goals
- Restoration: The impacted area will be restored to blend with the natural landscape.
- Erosion Control: Measures will be implemented to stabilize the area and prevent future erosion.
- Habitat Preservation: Native vegetation will be protected and reintroduced to support local wildlife.
- Nature Appreciation: Add a stone bench and overlook area to allow for appreciation of the landscape. This new goal is in response to a public request for this during outreach conducted for the project.
Public Engagement
Community Input is vital to this project. A neighborhood information meeting occurred on September 23, 2024. Broomfield staff were on hand to discuss the project and take comments. Concept boards were presented at the meeting and are linked below:

- Construction Drawings
- Plan Concept #1
- Plan Concept #2
- Opportunities and Constraints
Participants at the meeting were asked which of the two concepts they preferred. Of those that offered a preference, concept #2 that includes the overlook design was unanimously supported.
A presentation about the proposed project was made to the Open Space and Trails Advisory Committee at their September 26 meeting. At this meeting, OSTAC requested that the portion of the trail leading to the overlook be a crusher fines trail.
OSTAC approved the project on October 24, 2024 at their regular meeting.
Timeline
- Design Phase: 2024-2025
- Plan Concept #2 was approved by OSTAC and the Community.
- Construction Timeline: Restoration scheduled to begin in early Spring 2026.
- Project Completion: Late Spring 2026
