On October 22, 2019, Broomfield City Council passed Ordinance No. 2105 requiring retailers selling tobacco or nicotine products in Broomfield to apply and pay for an annual license. This ordinance also raises the minimum sale age from 18 to 21 years old. There will be penalties for retailers that violate the law by selling to anyone under 21 years of age, including fines and the risk of losing their license to sell tobacco products. The ordinance goes into effect on October 1, 2020.
