About Katie
Katie was appointed to represent Ward 1 in 2026. She and her husband have been living in Broomfield since 2005. One of their kids attends CU Boulder and the other will be starting CSU in the fall. They also have 2 rescue dogs. Katie enjoys hiking, travel, creative activities and board games.
Education
Katie holds a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Engineering with a Minor in Speech Communication from Northern Arizona University.
Professional Background
Katie started out her career in consulting firms, but found a greater fulfillment in donating her time to non-profit organizations. Her heart for community and desire to bring people together in a welcoming environment comes through in all she has done:
- Worked with AmeriCorps coordinating volunteers at a computer training center in an underprivileged neighborhood
- Served on steering teams for moms groups
- Supported her kids' schools from K through 12
- Volunteered with the City and County of Broomfield Building and Planning Department
- Participated in the Snow Pals program
- Managed membership for 100 Women Who Care in Broomfield
Political/Community Experience
Katie has been a part of The Refuge in Broomfield since it started nearly 20 years ago. She has led book clubs, hosted small groups, facilitated special events and operated as their Community Life Coordinator. She is currently the point person for donations and acts as a liaison for the Refuge Cafe, which provides free lunch and support resources to the community 3 days a week.
She has also been active in Together Colorado and the Broomfield Housing Solutions Forum, seeking to find ways to make housing affordable for all in our community.
