Coyote Safety: Guard Your Pets
The wild animals throughout Broomfield, even in residential neighborhoods, think unattended pets are "fair game." To avoid conflicts between wildlife and pets, here are some pointers: Read on...
Current Open Space and Trails Projects
Broomfield is fortunate to have a variety of active raptor populations thriving in a suburban setting. However, these majestic birds, are sensitive to human disturbances. The City and County of Broomfield is taking a proactive approach to protect and enhance raptor habitat and breeding success within the region. Open Space and Trails Staff, along with a team of ecological consultants from Smith Environmental and Engineering, have developed a Raptor Management Plan that was approved by the Broomfield City Council on Aug. 27, 2024. The plan seeks to protect raptors, identify and enhance raptor habitat in Broomfield, and recommend best practices to promote raptor breeding and nesting success.

Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the land upon which we reside is the ancestral home of the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute peoples. We further recognize that their connection to this place, both today and for countless generations, stewards the natural and cultural resources that we value so deeply. By acknowledging this connection, we strive to learn from, honor and respect these indigenous ties in our open space landscapes.
