Boards and Commissions are a way to be more involved with your community. The City and County of Broomfield's Boards and Commissions can challenge and engage you in a variety of areas that help to preserve and enhance the quality of life you enjoy in your hometown.

Boards and Commissions Annual Dinner
The City and County of Broomfield is proud to celebrate the time and talents of boards and commission members. Board and Commission members are cordially invited to the Hearts of Gold Boards and Commissions Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday, March 11 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. All board and commission members may invite a guest. If you are a current member and haven’t received an invite, please email volunteer@broomfield.org.

Boards and Commissions
Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (ACES)
This advisory committee helps guide Broomfield’s efforts to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable community. ACES provides input and recommendations to City Council and staff on policies and programs related to transportation, energy, and waste reduction. ACES plays a key role in advancing Broomfield’s sustainability goals through collaboration, community engagement and informed recommendations.
Arts, History and Cultural Council
This ongoing advisory committee prepares an annual distribution plan for the SCFD grant funding, and provides feedback on Arts & History Division programs and services including public art.
Broomfield Housing Alliance (BHA)
Broomfield Housing Alliance members address housing needs of the Broomfield community by reviewing community resources and providing resource guides to residents and it administers the State of Colorado Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program (formerly known as Section 8 Vouchers) in coordination with the City and County of Broomfield (CCOB).
Board of Equalization
The City Council sits as the Board of Equalization (BOE) for the City and County of Broomfield. The mission of the BOE is to assure just and equalized property tax assessments.
Board of Health
The Broomfield Board of Health is a board composed of residents with public health experience appointed by City Council. Among the listed duties are approving the five year Public Health Improvement Plan, developing and promoting the public policies needed to secure the conditions for a healthy community, and holding hearings, issuing orders and adopting rules for public or environmental health issues.
Charter Review Committee
The Charter Review Committee (CRC) was established to review and analyze the Home Rule Charter, and to advise Council on areas where amendments are desired. The CRC met from April to November 2023, and presented its final report to Council on November 14, 2023.
Comprehensive Plan Community Advisory Committee
The Comprehensive Plan Community Advisory Committee will provide valuable input and feedback on the development of major updates to the Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Mobility Plan.
Fiscal Leadership on Water Advisory Committee
The Fiscal Leadership on Water Advisory Committee provides suggestions and recommendations to the Broomfield City Council and City and County of Broomfield staff related to utility rates, enterprise-related capital improvement project planning and enterprise financial planning.
Historic Landmark Board
The purpose of the Historic Landmark Board is to propose criteria for review of historic resources, review properties nominated for designation and make recommendations, advise and assist owners of historic properties and more.
Land Use Review Commission
A Land Use Review Commissioner makes land use decisions and recommendations that are consistent with the policies and plans formally adopted by the City Council.
Library Advisory Board
The purpose of the Library Advisory Board is to serve as an advisory body to City Council regarding the operations of the library.
Local Licensing Authority
The Licensing Authority shall have and is vested with the authority to grant or to refuse for cause licenses for the sale at retail of malt, vinous or spirituous liquors or fermented malt beverages; to conduct investigations; and to suspend or revoke such licenses for cause.
Neighborhood Board of Adjustments
The Neighborhood Board of Adjustment will be dedicated to reviewing and making decisions regarding requests to vary zoning requirements and appealing administrative decisions regarding building permits.
Open Space and Trails Advisory Committee
The Open Space and Trails Advisory Committee was established to advise the city council on amendments to the open space element of the master plan.
Parks, Recreation and Senior Services Advisory Committee
The purpose of the committee is to advise the City Council on amendments to the parks and recreation portions of the Master Plan.
Personnel Merit Commission
The purpose of the Personnel Merit Commission, as provided by the City Charter, is to have final jurisdiction and authority to hear and determine appeals by any aggrieved employee who has been subject to disciplinary action of any kind.
Scientific and Cultural Facilities District
The SCFD is a seven-county tax district created within Colorado law, approved by Colorado’s General Assembly and renewed by voters multiple times over more than 30 years. SCFD funds more than 300 organizations across the front range urban corridor. Their board is made of one representative from each of the seven counties represented, including one from Broomfield, as well as four members appointed by Colorado's governor.
