Mission and Responsibilities

The Planning Division reviews development applications for compliance with Broomfield’s development standards. The intent of these reviews is to maintain and improve our residents' quality of life, protect the environment, and plan for the future needs of the community. Work is accomplished by highly trained employees in a professional and respectful manner.

The Planning Division includes Land Use and Master Planning, Development Review, Zoning and Subdivision Code Review, and Preparation of Population and Employment Estimates and Forecasts.

Latest News

On November 12, 2024, Broomfield approved Ordinance No. 2241 removing familial relationship regulations related to residential occupancy. Occupancy is now regulated based upon life safety limitations (such as building and fire codes) or limitations of occupancy based on Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS) - also known as septic systems.
