Important Notice:  New USPS Rule on Postmarks

The U.S. Postal Service has introduced a new rule regarding postmarks, added to the Domestic Mail Manual (39 CFR Part 111). This rule defines postmarks and clarifies that while a postmark confirms possession of mail on the inscribed date, it may not align with the date the mail was first accepted. This could impact mail-in ballots, property tax payments, and other county functions.

To ensure the postmark reflects the date you drop off your mail, please request a manual postmark from the Postal Service employee.

Certificate of Taxes Due

A Certificate of Taxes Due is a certification that all property taxes have been paid on a property except those shown on the certificate as still due. This assures the purchaser of the certificate that there will be no hidden surprises such as prior year delinquent taxes not shown on the tax rolls. If such a case occurs, the City and County of Broomfield will take care of any taxes that were omitted from the certificate.
