Ballot Retrieval and Processing Schedules

Ballot retrieval and processing schedules are adjusted throughout the election period based on the volume of ballot returns. When return rates are lower, retrieval from drop boxes and processing at the election office occur on a reduced schedule. As ballot returns increase—particularly as Election Day approaches—retrieval and processing schedules are expanded to handle the higher volume. This flexible approach ensures efficient use of resources while maintaining the timely processing of all ballots. These schedule adjustments may affect when voters receive Ballot Trax notifications about their ballot status, but rest assured that all ballots are securely stored and will be processed and counted.

24-Hour Election Security

Colorado's election processes operate under continuous 24-hour surveillance to ensure the security and integrity of every ballot. All ballot boxes, retrieval, processing, and counting activities are monitored around the clock through a combination of security cameras, restricted access controls, and bipartisan observation teams. This constant oversight helps safeguard ballots from the moment they're returned until they're officially counted, providing transparency and accountability throughout the entire election process. These security measures are part of Colorado's commitment to conducting secure, accurate, and trustworthy elections.

About Ballot Trax

Ballot Trax is a free service that enables Colorado voters to track their mail ballot from the time it's mailed through when it's counted. You can receive notifications by phone, email, or text.

Notifications You'll Receive:

  • Ballot Received: "Your ballot has been received! Your voter packet has been received by the county election office."
  • Ballot Counted: "Your ballot has been counted! Thank you for voting!"

Note: Notification timing depends on ballot retrieval and processing schedules.

  • Important Limitations: Confidential voters cannot use Ballot Trax because their information is not included in public voter lists.
  • Not Receiving Notifications? If you're signed up but not receiving messages, verify your contact information is current.

How to Update Your Ballot Trax Information:

  1. Go to BallotTrax.coloradosos.gov
  2. Enter your first name, last name, date of birth, and residential zip code to access the voter portal
