Address Change
Pursuant to Colorado law, permit holders are required to notify the Police Department of a change of address within 30 days.
In State
All permit holders who change addresses must complete the required change of address form on the Broomfield Police Department Permitium website. When moving within the state of Colorado, the permit remains valid until it expires. Renewal of the permit should be done with the county of residence.
Out of State
If the permit holder moves out of state, the permit becomes invalid and must be returned to the Broomfield Police Department. Please contact the Concealed Handgun Permit technician for assistance by phone at (983)888-6535 or by email at chp@broomfield.org.
Moving to Colorado
Permits from other states have a 90-day grace period from the time of moving, as long as the permit is coming from a state that has reciprocity with Colorado. Apply for a new Concealed Handgun Permit in the Colorado county of residency before the grace period has ended. Visit the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Reciprocity site to see what states have reciprocity.
Lost, Stolen, Destroyed
Pursuant to Colorado law, permit holders are required to notify the Police Department of loss, theft or destruction of their permit within 3 days. To provide notification and obtain a replacement permit, please visit the BPD Permitium website. There is a $15 fee for replacement.
Retired Law Enforcement
Concealed Handgun Permits for retired law enforcement officers will visit the BPD Permitium website and follow the application process for a new or renew permit, depending on if they are renewing their LEO permit or applying for a new one. Select the appropriate options under the “training” section for retired LEO applications.
