COVID-19

Public Health Order 2021-04

Broomfield residents have stepped up with high vaccination rates and relatively low hospitalization rates. Almost 72.9% of eligible Broomfield residents are fully vaccinated, and that percentage will continue to increase as 5-11 year olds start receiving their second doses. As of Nov. 23, Broomfield’s 14 day average hospitalization rate is approximately 1 per 100,000.

However, the regional strain on the area’s hospitals cannot be understated, with 94.3% of ICU beds currently occupied in the North Central Region, and with an 8% increase in hospitalizations in just the last week alone. These hospitalization metrics, along with a level of transmission of COVID-19 that has not been seen since last December, is compelling the City and County of Broomfield to take action in a continued methodical and intentional approach to COVID-19, by requiring masks in all City and County of Broomfield facilities, per Public Health Order 2021-004 effective Dec. 1 - Dec. 31 (unless extended).

Public Health Order 2021-004 Requirements:

  • Masks are required for all individuals (staff and patrons) age 2+ in all City and County of Broomfield Facilities including the Broomfield Library, Community Center and Paul Derda Recreation Center.
  • Fully vaccinated individuals can opt out of wearing a mask by showing proof of being fully vaccinated (paper or electronic version of vaccination card) upon request.

Thank you to Broomfield’s local businesses and nonprofits who have voluntarily stepped up to strongly encourage or require masks indoors, and allow fully vaccinated individuals to opt out with proof of vaccination.

If at any time the data indicates a need for more or less mitigation measures, Broomfield is prepared to act swiftly in response.

For more than a year and a half, Broomfield has continued to work together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Please continue to practice patience, compliance and compassion to reduce transmission and save lives.
