blue COVID heading icon

On the morning of April 13, the FDA and CDC recommended pausing the use of Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine while a potential side effect is under review by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices on Wednesday. At this time, Broomfield Public Health is pausing the use of Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) until more information is made available by the FDA, CDC and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. What you need to know:

  • Six vaccine recipients out of 6.8 million have reported a rare type of blood clot after receiving the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine. The FDA and CDC are investigating.
  • If you made an appointment with Broomfield Public Health for today’s 1STBANK Clinic, you will now be offered Pfizer at your appointment. Your appointment time will remain the same. Visit Broomfield.org/COVIDVaccine for the Pfizer vaccine Fact Sheet.
  • If you made an appointment with a different provider for a Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine, please contact that provider for more information.

As additional information is available, it will be updated on Broomfield.org/COVIDVaccine. To view the FDA and CDC statement, please visit https://bit.ly/3g6qkXT.
