Broomfield is a part of the Allied Local Government Coalition (ALGC) in the upcoming wellbore integrity rulemaking at the COGCC. The hearing dates for these proposed rules are March 25th and 26th.
The proposed rules update current bradenhead monitoring and testing rules, define “Protected Water” and set standards to ensure that operators isolate Protected Water from oil, gas, and produced water; and strengthen standards for cementing and casing to ensure that wells withstand downhole pressures and maintain integrity throughout their life cycles.
In addition to supporting the COGCC draft wellbore integrity rules the ALGC is asking for the following regarding these processes occurring inside their jurisdictions that can threaten public health, safety, welfare or the environment and the opportunity to consult with the Director specifically including:
(1) to receive the same notices and reports that operators must provide to the COGCC;
(2) to have access to the same records the COGCC has access to;
(3) to receive the same reports operators file with the COGCC; and
(4) to be consulted on the designation of protected water.
The ALGC has filed a prehearing statement and response with the COGCC. Please view both documents here.
