On September 16, 2019, Broomfield received the 48-hour Notice of Spud for 13 wells on the Interchange A Pad (see list below). All 13 of these wells have been permitted by the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (i.e. the Form 2s have been approved). There are a total of 16 wells planned for the Interchange B Pad. The approval of three wells by the COGCC is still pending.
Spudding is the process of beginning to drill the surface hole of a new oil and gas well. This surface hole is then lined with casing and cement to protect groundwater. Fresh water is the only fluid used to drill the surface holes.
