At the May 14 City Council Meeting, the Broomfield City Council will consider the first reading of Ordinance No. 2091, which will adopt a temporary Oil and Gas Moratorium on processing or approving new or pending applications for use by special review or operator agreements allowing the development or operation of an oil or gas well or facilities. If approved after a future second reading and public hearing, the moratorium gives Broomfield until November 14, 2019, to conduct a proper review of the authority granted by SB19-181, thoughtfully develop amendments to our existing oil and gas regulation ordinance, and receive input from the public and stakeholders. The moratorium will not apply to existing or previously approved oil and gas operations. The amendments to the regulations will apply to future applications for oil and gas activities in Broomfield.
