Elmwood Street Reconstruction - 14th to 18th

This project is substantially complete!

No further updates will be provided.

Starting the week of June 12, 2023, the City and County of Broomfield and their contractor, Civil Specialties, Inc. began work on the Elmwood Street Drainage Improvement project.  Work continues to progress on the Elmwood Street Reconstruction Project.  The contractor has completed the installation of the storm pipe and manholes as of July 14, 2023.  Beginning the week of July 17th, sidewalk and roadway removal on Elmwood Street will begin. This street will continue to be open to local traffic only.

The work will take place along E 18th Avenue and Elmwood Street as shown on the map below and is expected to take approximately 10 weeks.

Elmwood Street Construction

After precipitation events, Elmwood Street does not drain properly, and water often remains in the gutter for several weeks.  In the winter this can exacerbate dangerous icing conditions and in the summer these areas are often sites of algae growth and mosquito breeding. During particularly large precipitation events, several homeowners on the northeast end of the street have experienced water ponding up into their driveways and yards. This project aims to alleviate all of these issues.  Work for the project includes adding storm inlets and storm sewer along Elmwood Street and E. 18th Avenue, sidewalk removal and replacement and asphalt removal and replacement.

The contractor is authorized to perform work Monday through Friday anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. For your safety, please observe all construction signage and any direction from traffic control personnel. It is possible that for brief periods of time, that a full closure (with access for Elmwood Street residents only) will be required for public safety.  Alternate routes are advised when possible.
