Election Watchers

An Election Watcher is an eligible voter who has been appointed by an authorized appointing entity to witness and verify the conduct of an election.

Eligibility to be an Election Watcher

  • An eligible elector in Colorado
  • Selected by an authorized appointing entity
  • Not a candidate on the ballot, not a candidate's immediate family member by blood, marriage, or civil union to the second degree (if watching for the candidate)
  • If selected by a party chair, party candidate, or unaffiliated candidate, must be affiliated with that political party or unaffiliated
  • Watchers in Colorado must be appointed by a party, candidate, or issue committee. Access the Certificate of Appointment.

To view all of the processes, watchers must complete the Colorado Dept of State watcher course and present a certificate of completion. Access course.
