The new trail is now open to the public. The Contractor has a few items to complete including re-installing the CDOT right of way fencing and completing some railing installation. The project will have irrigation and landscaping work in the Spring to restore the impacts of construction. The landscaping work will have little impact on trail use.
The Contractor has completed the concrete trail work. The west side of the project has been substantially completed. It includes a wider trail for safety around the corner and some new median cover to reduce maintenance and improve aesthetics. The Contractor has concrete barrier and ditch paving to complete at the box culvert over Rock Creek. That work will occur over the next week or so depending on weather (it is forecasted to get very cold). The project will finish up with signage, striping, and some structural coating (painting). Punch list walks are anticipated before the end of February and the trail will be fully open by March 2021. The project will have irrigation and landscaping work in the Spring to restore the impacts of construction. This work should have very little impact on trail use.
The project will realign the US 36 Bikeway from West Flatiron Crossing Drive to Interlocken Loop. The new trail will be 12’-wide and generally follow along the west side of US 36. CDOT has contributed $150,000 to the project which covered the design costs. A construction agreement with Concrete Express, Inc. was approved by Council.
