The contractor for Emerald Park, Richdell Construction, Inc. has mobilized into the site. The contractor has located utilities, and has installed all chain link construction fencing, stormwater best management practices, and tree protection for two large cottonwoods on the project site. They have begun demolition of the existing amenities including old exercise equipment, fencing, and an old baseball field backstop. They have also begun overlot grading on the site. In the next few weeks the contractor will be preparing to work on the concrete flatwork and site drainage.
Thank you for your patience during this project.
Planned improvements at Emerald Park include installing a new irrigation system, adding approximately 80,000 square feet of new sod, relocating the baseball infield to be outside the floodway, adding dugouts and a backstop, replacing horseshoe pit fencing, replacing old circuit exercise equipment, and installing drainage improvements.
BHA Design, Inc. and Loewen Engineering, Inc. completed the floodplain analysis and the project design documents. City staff have been working in collaboration with Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) on this project, as about half of the improvement area is located on BVSD property. Broomfield and BVSD have executed a temporary construction easement on BVSD property.
