Meter Conversion Project

The City of Broomfield Public Works Department is currently replacing aging water meters with new water meters throughout the city. This project started in January and should be completed by November 2019.

The new meters allow the City to implement an automated meter reading process that will provide better customer service, greater data accuracy, and reduced operational costs.

Meter Conversion Project Information

This is a mandatory water meter upgrade project; however, the City is working to make this as convenient as possible for residents.

  • The replacement of these meters will require access to your residence by the installer. The meters that need replacement are located inside, near the main water shut-off valve.
  • Someone age 18 or older must be present during the installation which usually takes 15-20 minutes, during which time the water will be shut off.
  • The automated meters will transmit water usage data wirelessly and presents no health or data security risks.
