Self Sufficiency - Public Benefits Programs

Aid to the Blind (AB) and Needy Disabled (AND)

The program provides a small cash assistance benefits to low-income Colorado residents age   18-59 who have at least a six month total disability that precludes them from work.

Burial Assistance Program

The program provides financial assistance to help pay for funeral, burial and/or cremation costs.  

Child Care Assistance Program

This program provides childcare assistance to low-income families that are working or in school, and families that are enrolled in the Colorado Works Program and need child care services to support their efforts toward self-sufficiency. 

Child Support

The program assures that all children receive financial and medical support from each parent. The program puts children first by helping both parents assume responsibility for the economic and social well-being, health, and stability for their children.

Colorado Works & TANF

Participants receive cash assistance and help becoming self-sufficient by strengthening their family's economic and social stability.

Employment First

This program provides a full range of employment services to food assistance recipients residing in Broomfield County.

Food Assistance Program (SNAP)

The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food benefits to low-income households who meet eligibility requirements.

Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid Program)

Health First Colorado is public health insurance for low-income families, children, pregnant women, persons who are blind or disabled, and the elderly.  

Long Term Care

This program includes nursing facility care, home and community based services in which medical providers come into the home to render the necessary services to keep a disabled individual from being institutionalized in a nursing facility or hospital.

Low Income Energy Assistance (LEAP)

This program is designed to help qualifying low-income households cover part of their winter home heating costs. 

Medicare Savings Program (MSP)

Assists individuals with limited income and resources pay for some or all of their medicare premiums and may also pay their medicare deductibles and coinsurance.

Old Age Pension

This program provides financial assistance and may provide medical benefits for low-income adults age 60 years or older who meet basic eligibility requirements.

Rental and Mortgage Assistance

Emergency rental assistance for Broomfield residents who can sustain stable housing.

Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA)

A two-year program to provide rental assistance and supportive case management services for low-income families. Applicants must meet qualifications, including income and employment.
