Story Times

  • Story Line - Call our Story Line at 720.887.2317 to hear a recorded story. New stories each week!
  • Baby Outdoor Storytime - Thursdays, June 10-July 22, 9:30-10 a.m. Ages 0-24 with an adult. No registration required. Join the Children's Library outside for some fun with stories and rhymes for babies. This program meets on the lawn to the northwest of the library building. Weather permitting. 
  • Outdoor Storytime - Tuesdays, June 8-July 20, 9:30-10 a.m. Ages 2-5 with an adult. No registration required. Storytime is outside this summer! This program meets at the library amphitheater next to the pond. Build early literacy skills while developing a love of reading. Weather permitting. 

Special Programs

  • Summer Library Adventures: Tails & Tales - June 1-July 31. All ages. All ages are invited to participate in this year's Summer Library Adventures reading challenge! Go to broomfield.beanstack.org to register and start logging activities! Everyone who completes the challenge will be entered into a grand prize drawing, and anyone ages newborn-18 who finishes the challenge can pick up a completion prize at the Library beginning June 7, while supplies last. Prizes must be picked up by July 31. The Library looks forward to enjoying this summer with you!
  • Wonderful Wednesdays - Wednesdays, June 23, July 7, and July 21, 2-2:45 p.m. Ages 5+ with family. No registration required, but space may be limited. Enjoy special outdoor performances for families every other Wednesday afternoon in June and July! This program meets in Community Park behind the library. Families will sit or stand in the grass for the program. Bring a blanket, water, & sunscreen. Weather permitting. Seating will begin at 1:15 p.m. Check in with a staff member outside the Library & Auditorium to be seated. 
    • June 23: "Get Outdoors: A Musical/Theatrical Exploration of Science and Nature" with Jeff & Paige! Join Jeff & Paige as they perform fun science-based songs and kid-delighting skits complete with costumes and loads of audience interaction.
    • July 7: "Mr. Bones and Friends." Life-size skeleton dinosaur puppets will be presented in a show and tell atmosphere by their designer/puppeteer Tim Seeber.  Come learn about your favorite dinosaurs and see them come to life!
    • July 21: "Ann Lincoln's Marvelous, Amazing and Magical Animals." Magic, juggling & comedy with real and pretend pets. A show about some of Ann's own unique "fantastic beasts" and how she found out about them. Ann will pull out all the stops in this performance that highlights stories about animals (both real and imaginary), kindness and caring for pets, and how to learn more about earth's creatures by using resources at the library.
  • High-Sensory Messy Mud Play - Saturday, June 26, 10-11 a.m. Ages 3-5 with adult. Registration required. This outdoor, play-based activity welcomes families with preschool children with autism, sensory processing disorder, and/or with strong desires for sensory input for a flexible, fun experience. Families are encouraged to dress appropriately for messy play - kids will explore dirt, mud, water, soap, and paint! Preschoolers will explore messy play with their bodies, toys, and tools while practicing fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, social play, early literacy skills, and transitions. Families will participate in stations and a separate calming space will be nearby. A professional occupational therapist will be available to answer caregiver questions about children's development and learning. Program schedule and visual schedule will be available several weeks in advance of program by contacting the Children's Library.

Ongoing Programs

  • Children's Patio - Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., 2 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.; Sunday 1-4:30 p.m. (Weather permitting.) Come enjoy some outdoor play together!
  • Baby Welcome Bags - Ages 0-12 months. Are you a Colorado resident who has welcomed a new baby into the family? Congratulations! The Library wants to help give your little one the best start in life. Stop by the Children's Library Desk and ask about our Baby Welcome Bags for babies up to 12 months old that contain some special gifts for your little one and great resources for caregivers. Supplies are limited. Funded by the Broomfield Library Friends Foundation.
  • Online Resources - This is a great time to take advantage of our digital resources! Click on the icons below for books, movies, animated stories and more available through the library website! Some items may require your library card to sign in.

Family Support

  • Understanding Dyslexia: Tools for Parents & Activities for Kids - Saturday, July 24, 10-11:30 am. Ages 18+. Registration required (through Broomfield Early Childhood Council). Parents will attend an information session with L2 Literacy & Learning to find out ways to prepare kids for reading, language based learning disabilities, signs and early identification of dyslexia, testing, and how to navigate the IEP process and special education at school. Fun literacy based games and activities will be provided for children 4+ while parents attend the session. Presented in collaboration with the Broomfield Library and the Broomfield Early Childhood Council. This program will take place outside in the Community Park shelter across from the tennis courts. Wear sunscreen and bring water. The Broomfield Library will provide snacks for kids and refreshments for adults. Weather permitting. Broomfield Public Health guidelines will be followed.
  • Internet Hotspots for Check-Out - Do you have unreliable internet or need internet access when the library is closed? Check out a mobile hotspot from the Broomfield Library. They are available to Broomfield residents ages 18 and older and can be checked out for three weeks. Come into the Library and ask at the Circulation desk to check one out.
