BPD-Inside and Teen Academy


The Teen Academy provides an opportunity for understanding and interacting with members of the Police Department to enhance partnerships within the community. BPD – Inside Teen Academy is designed to be a fun interactive way for teens to learn about the various dynamic functions of the Broomfield Police Department. Teens can experience what it's like to be a police officer and explore the vast array of opportunities available in law enforcement, such as SWAT, crime scene investigation, K-9, school resource officer, investigations, or detention. 

Dates: June 5-9, 2023

Time : 8:00 am - 5:00 pm daily 

Location: Broomfield Police Department, 7 DesCombes Drive 

Registration required! You must complete an application.

A separate signed waiver will be required by the first day of the academy. A background check will be conducted and you will be notified of your acceptance and reservation in the class.


2023 BPD-Inside Academy  

The BPD – Inside Academy is a series of three separate blocks. Each block occurs over five consecutive weeks to comprise the complete trilogy. Blocks 1, 2, and 3 contain specific topics of information to encompass all aspects of the Broomfield Police Department over the entire 15 weeks. 

  • Block 1 (March 15, 22, 29 and April 5, 12) - Five consecutive weeks at the Broomfield Police Department, 7 DesCombes Drive

    • Emergency Communications (Dispatch)
    • Patrol
    • Animal Services
    • Code Compliance
    • K-9
    • Traffic
  • Block 2 (May 10, 17, 24, 31 and June 7) - Five consecutive weeks at the Broomfield Detention Center, 11600 Ridge Parkway 
    • SWAT 
    • Crisis Negotiations
    • CSI 
    • Investigations
    • Body Worn Cameras
    • Internal Affairs
    • Public Information
    • Victim Services
  • Block 3 (August 9, 16, 23, 30 and September 6) - Five consecutive weeks at the Broomfield Detention Center, 11600 Ridge Parkway

    • Emergency Response Team
    • Transport
    • EVOC (Law Enforcement Emergency Vehicle Operation Course)

    • Registration required!
    • Classes are Wednesday nights from 6:30-9:00 p.m.
    • You must complete an application (minimum age is 16).
