Earth Day Lantern Parade
Broomfield's Public Art Committee is hosting its first annual
Earth Day Lantern Parade
, April 22, 7:30 p.m.

This springtime event is our way to bring the community together to celebrate whimsy, light and art while also showcasing ways that art making can be sustainable.

The parade will begin in the front entryway of Broomfield's Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library.

lanternLantern Workshops

In preparation for this event, the committee is offering four free lantern-making workshops during the month of April. The fourth workshop will be held on the day of the parade.

Saturday, April 9, 2016, 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 16, 2016, 9:30 a.m.

This is less of a teacher guided workshop and more of a “Do it Yourself” lantern making project. Volunteers will be available to help participants when needed.

This is an open house event and participants can come as early as 4:30 p.m. and stay until the beginning of the parade. It is recommended that participants allow for at least an hour of time to make the lantern. Most materials used to make these lanterns are recycled and locally purchased.

All ages are welcome! However, an adult must accompany children under the age of 7.
